Photo Gallery - What not to do to your BattleWing

I have been given permission to post the following photos and make belittling comments. Well, kind of.
If your BattleWing makes on to this web page, I will offer to rebuild your wing for free of charge. Just give me your wing and a box of matches and I'll see what I can do.

Bill, Bill, Bill. I'm sorry I didn't post the build instructions fast enough on the website before you built your wing.

  1. Second picture shows a large ESC (this is OK but it is very bulky).
  2. The second picture also shows the servos are floating in the servo bays with space below the servo.
    1. The servos should be pushed all the way down and the top of the servo horn below the surface so it does not get stripped when the wing gets hit by another plane.
  3.  Third picture shows an insane amount of Hot Glue to mount the engine mount.
    1. I think there is about 2 or 3 mini sticks globed on there.
    2. I'm not sure if there even is a wood engine mount underneath there.
  4.  Fifth picture shows the hinge job. It works...I think.
  5. The last two pictures show the incorrect way to mount the black fins.
    1. The nose of the fin should be flush with the leading edge.
    2.  The fin should hang half way below as well as above the wing.
    3. When the fin is only mounted so the fin is above the wing, the wing will fly like crap.
    4. Like the lower fins of a surfboard it needs to hang below as well to rake the air and gain traction.

Although I watched it fly, Bill said it did not fly very well.

UPDATE: I tracked down Bill and demanded his plane. I rebuilt his BattleWing and give it a new facelift.
